Dundee United manager impressed by youngster Matthew Cudjoe’s performance against Livingston

Youngster Matthew Cudjoe's performance against Livingston in the Scottish Premiership impressed Dundee United manager Jack Ross.

Despite coming on in the 52nd minute to replace Glenn Middleton in Sunday's match, the 18-year-old produced another talismanic performance.

In the 38 minutes he was on the field, Cudjoe completed the most dribbles.

He had two shots and 78 percent of his passes were accurate as the Terrors attempted to negate Cristian Montano's goal in the 49th minute.

"I toyed with bringing him on at half-time to give us a spark then brought him on quite early in the second half,” Ross admitted.

“He has been good in pre-season and deserved to start against Kilmarnock. He would have been on the pitch in different circumstances last Thursday but didn’t get on because of how the game panned out.

“For an 18-year-old he’s in a good place, he’s a big part of my plans because I like him. He was unfortunate not to score, he’s brave in how he takes the ball and I like how his first thought is always to go forward and score a goal.

“He’s also brave in that he’s small in stature but he takes the knocks, the bumps and bruises. He will continue to start games and be involved in games for us this season.”

The former Asante Kotoko and Legon Cities FC player has now featured in all two league matches of the season.

Up next for Cudjoe and his Dundee United teammates is a trip to face AZ on Thursday in the second leg of their third-round qualifier.
