Dybala offered himself to Xavi, but got rejected

Published on: 23 June 2022

Paulo Dybala has always wanted to play for Barcelona. He was so keen to play for Barcelona that, according to 'Sport', he offered himself to the Catalans. However, he received a "no" from boss Xavi Hernandez and director of football Jordi Cruyff.

Paulo Dybala is looking for a team. His contract at Juventus expires on 30th June and he is not going to stay at Turin.

Everything seems to suggest that his next destination will be Inter. He is about to join Inter until 2026. His mother has been key to him completing his move to Milan, which has yet to be announced.

But before Inter appeared on the scene, 'Sport' says that Dybala ended up offering himself to Barcelona. He always missed the fact that he did not get the chance to play at the Camp Nou and he tried to persuade the Catalans to keep him on for the 2022-23 season.

Barca studied the offer, but turned it down. According to this same source, Xavi Hernandez ruled out signing him, just like Jordi Cruyff. Both the coaching staff and the board agreed that it was not precisely what the team needed at this moment.

As we wait for a new destination to be sorted out, Dybala will have to put off his dream of playing for Barcelona... at least for now.
