Dyche won't panic buy

Burnley manager Sean Dyche says he will not panic buy just to get players in before the start of the new season.

The Clarets, along with Everton and Tottenham are the only Premier League club yet to sign a new player this summer.

Burnley's season starts earlier than their rivals as they are in Europa League action, taking on Aberdeen in the second qualifying round on 26th July.

Clubs that do get the money in, you know they've got to put it back out there.

Dyche has been on the lookout for new players, having been interested in West Brom pair Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez along with Swansea duo Alfie Mawson and Sam Clucas.

However, ahead of the club's first European game in over 50 years, no new players have yet arrived at Turf Moor, though that is not a matter of concern for Dyche.

He said: "There's lots of different changes in the market every window it seems.

"Teams are waiting and waiting to push the margins," he added. "Clubs that do get the money in, you know they've got to put it back out there.

"It's just tough for everyone, it's not just us by the way. We have our challenges, we know that - it's well documented about our financial model compared to others but it doesn't make it easy for anyone."

Burnley finished seventh in the league last season, their highest finish in 44 years. They are 25/1 to finish in the top six next season while they are 2/1 to be in the top half.

In pre-season they have been boosted by the return of Robbie Brady from long-term injury. He played in their 5-2 victory over Curzon Ashton while others in the squad played against Macclesfield Town on the same night, winning 2-0 with goals from Aaron Lennon and Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

Burnley start the new Premier League season away to Southampton on 12th August. They are 3/1 to win the game with the Saints 10/11 while the draw is priced at 12/5.

Their first home game is a week later with Watford the visitors to Turf Moor.
