Dynamo Kyiv vs Barcelona: how and where to watch - times, TV, online

Published on: 24 November 2020

All the information you need to know on how and where to watch Dynamo Kyiv host Barcelona at NSC Olimpiyskiy (Kyiv) on 24 November at 21:00 CET.

Barcelona will travel to Kyiv to try to secure their ticket to the round of 16 with two games to spare. The Catalan giants top the Group G with 9 points, while the Ukrainian side sit third in the standings, with just one point.

The hosts, that have lost three and drawn four of their last seven European matches against Spanish opposition, will be willing to upset the five-time competition’s champions in a cold atmosphere, but even if Mircea Lucescu’s team were to beat Barça, their chances of going through are quite low, as Juventus, the other big favourite of the group, will play at home against Ferencváros and are expected to get the job done.

Barça have the worst start in LaLiga in 25 years

It seems a good moment for Dynamo to try to hurt Barça, since they were defeated again in LaLiga, this time by Atlético Madrid (1-0). Ronald Koeman’s side are currently in 13th position in Spain’s top flight.

Only the 1995-96 campaign was as bad as the current one for Barça: then the Catalan outfit also picked up just 11 points from their first eight matches in the domestic competition, but they had scored more goals.

Champions: much better stats for the 'azulgranas'

But the Champions League is another story: Barça haven't suffered a defeat in the group stages of the competition since the 2016-17 season, with 17 wins and six draws in their last 23 matches.

Meanwhile, Dynamo have been going through a coronavirus crisis lately with a considerable number of players and staff self-isolating after testing positive. Moreover, they will take on Barcelona with a number of absentees due to injury, such as Oleksandr Tymchyk, Nazariy Rusyn and Vladimir Kostevych.

Star striker Artem Besedin is currently serving a doping ban and won’t be able to play.

As for Barcelona, Ansu Fati, Ronald Araújo and Sergio Busquets remain on the sidelines, as well as long-term absentee Samuel Umtiti, still with knee problems.

Piqué injured and Messi in Barcelona

The worst news for Koeman over the last days have been Gerard Piqué’s serious knee injury in the match against Atlético last weekend. The 33-year-old defender faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, while teammate Sergi Roberto suffered a muscule injury in the same match and will be ruled out for Tuesday night.

On the other hand, Koeman, who scored the only goal against Sampdoria in the 1992 competition final that gave Barcelona their first Champions League title, has decided to leave Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong out of the squad.

Philippe Coutinho could feature from the start, while Riqui Puig and Carles Aleñá could have his opportunity in the midfield. Óscar Mingueza has been included in the squad and could join Clément Lenglet in the defense line.
