Ghanaian midfielder Edmund Owusu Ansah has joined Vietnamese top-flight side Hai Phong FC, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Hai Phong won the bid to sign the ex-Asante Kotoko captain for an undisclosed fee from champions Song Lam Nghe.

He joined Song Lam Nghe in the second half of last season and helped them clinched the title for the first time in ten years by scoring twice in 13 Super-League matches.

But they could not hold onto their influential new import as Phong FC have moved quickly to pen a new deal with the ex-Heart of Lions enforcer.

"Yes I have signed for Hai Phong FC and hopefully we can do well this season,'' the 28-year-old told GHANAsoccernet.com

"It's another good club and the idea is to continue playing week-in and week out. I am satisfied with the level and the programmes at the club and I will give off my best."

He has been named in the Hai Phong squad that will travel to Hoang Anh Gia Lai on the opening day of the V-Super League on Saturday 31 at the Pleiku Stadium.
