New Edubiase President Abdul-Salam Yakubu has described the axing of Emmanuel Baffour from the Black Stars squad as 'unfair' and a bad advertisement for the Premier League.
The 24-year-old was dropped from Ghana's team which host Lesotho in the opening 2014 World Cup qualifiers on June 1 and travel to Zambia eight days later.
It is widely believed Baffour's exclusion was due to his late reporting for training after undergoing medical at Turkish club Antalyaspor.
But the Edubiase President insists this reason is not good enough to drop the Ghana Premier League’s top scorer
"We are lost as to why Baffour was dropped from the Black Stars squad but the coach knows best,'' Yakubu said.
''We had communicated Baffour's delay with the GFA and they knew what was going on.
''So what people are saying about he (Baffour) reporting late to camp and therefore the reason to drop him is not good enough.
''I think it is unfair and a bad advertisement for the local league in that the top scorer does not get a chance to play for the national team.
"Kwasi Appiah knows Baffour even before the friendly with Chile so I don't think he not training with the team is a factor. Maybe he was not in his (Appiah) plans."
Yakubu however adds Baffour is calm over the decision and believes his opportunity with the Black Stars will emerge again.
"I spoke to him and he is okay. He is bidding his time and surely his chance will come again. So we wait and see what happens."
