German Bundesliga side, Eintracht Frankfurt have announced the signing of talented youngster Elye Wahi.
The club confirmed the arrival of the French forward of Ivorian descent on Friday, January 24. In the official club statement, Frankfurt indicated that Wahi who joins from Olympique Marseille has signed a deal until 2030.
“Eintracht signs Elye Wahi. The French U23 international striker comes from Olympique Marseille and has signed a contract until 2030.
“Last summer, Olympique Marseille signed the 22-year-old. There, he scored three goals in 13 Ligue 1 games and provided one assist. Now the Frenchman is moving abroad for the first time in his career, to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he will face fellow countryman Hugo Ekitiké in attack, among others. Elye Wahi will wear jersey number 17 at the Hessian Bundesliga club,” Frankfurt announced in its statement.
Elye Wahi joins Frankfurt with high expectations and is expected to slot in for Egyptian winger Omar Marmoush who joined Manchester City on Thursday.
Wahi in his first interview as a Frankfurt player shared his delight and promised good performances as well as goals to repay the trust placed in him by his new club.
"I am happy to be at Eintracht from now on. It is a big club that I have heard a lot of positive things about. It quickly became clear to me that I wanted to take the chance and come here. I want to repay the trust that has been placed in me with good performances and goals,” Wahi said as quoted on the Frankfurt website.
