El-Badry backs Ahly players before Ghana's Chelsea game

Al Ahly stepped up preparations for Sunday’s Caf Champions League tie against Berekum Chelsea with a 5-4 win over  Dakhlya 5-4 in a friendly.

Coach Hossam El-Badry’s men made use of the friendly to test their pause ahead of the reverse fixture against the Ghanaian side.

"The Dakhlya friendly was difficult more than I expected, but it was useful to make sure the players' fitness levels are up to the mark ahead the crucial game against Chelsea," El-Badry was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"We made some mistakes in terms of defence, but we will work hard to avoid this when we face Chelsea in the CAF Champions League," he added.

The Red Devils are scheduled to fly to Ghana to face Berekum Chelsea in the Group Stage of the CAF Champions League on 19 August.

The six-time African Champions Ahly are on top of group B with three straight victories, and hope to maintain their 100 per cent record in the African Champions League group stage and beat Chelsea in Ghana next week.
