Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu has called on his teammates to remain united and focus on the finer details of their game as they strive to retain their place in Ligue 1.

His comments came in the wake of a 3-0 home defeat to AS Monaco, adding to the club's struggles this season.

After spending one season in Ligue 2, Auxerre made a swift return to the top flight for the 2024-25 season.

However, the club now faces the tough task of securing their Ligue 1 status amid early setbacks. Owusu believes that unity and a focus on small details will be crucial to their survival.

"We need to stay together. Even though we have lost some games, we have shown the quality to play in Ligue 1, so we need to build on that," Owusu said. "We need to also pay attention to the small details. The coach gives us the confidence, and we have a strong team, so we just have to keep going."

Auxerre’s defeat to Monaco marks their third consecutive loss following an opening-day win, leaving them 15th in the standings.

The poor run of results has sounded an early warning for the club as they aim to navigate a challenging season ahead.
