Elmina Sharks FC has been fined GHS20,000 and ordered to play the remainder of their home matches behind closed doors following incidents of misconduct during their Division One League fixture against Swedru All Blacks United FC.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee found the club guilty of failing to ensure the safety of match officials and allowing their supporters to engage in violent conduct. Reports indicate that fans invaded the pitch after a controversial decision, leading to chaos that endangered referees and opposing players.

As a result, the GFA has imposed strict sanctions, including a warning that any violation of the closed-door order will result in a 10-match stadium ban. The club has also been instructed to put measures in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Elmina Sharks, who are currently battling for promotion to the Ghana Premier League, now face a significant setback as they will have to play without the support of their home crowd. The club has seven days to appeal the ruling.
