Elmina Sharks owner Paa Kwesi Nduom calls for overhaul of GFA after Nsoatre tragedy

Business consultant and owner of Elmina Sharks, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, has called for significant changes at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the tragic events at Nsoatre last weekend.

Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, was stabbed to death at the Nana Koroman II Park during Kotoko’s matchday 19 fixture against Nsoatreman FC. The violent incident led to the arrest of three individuals as investigations continue.

While the GFA has begun efforts to address the issue by charging those involved, Nduom believes these measures are inadequate and has urged for an overhaul of the country’s football administration.

“The GFA needs a serious overhaul,” he stated in a Facebook post. “A few people at the top feed on FIFA money and leave the clubs, referees, and players hungry. What are we waiting for? More deaths, bankruptcies, and Black Stars losses?”

In response to the incident, the GFA has suspended Ghana Premier League fixtures for the weekend and scheduled a meeting with league clubs on Thursday, February 6. A separate meeting with supporters' leadership is planned for Friday.
