Elvis Sakyi marks Maccabi Petah Tikva debut with win over champions Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israeli league opener

Ghanaian midfielder Elvis Sakyi marked his debut for Maccabi Petah Tikva with a great win in the Israeli Premier League on Sunday.

Petah Tikva beat back-to-back defending champions Maccabi Tel Aviv 2-1 at away to begin the 2020/2021 season a brighter note.

Sakyi who joined Petah Tikva this summer was handed a starting role in midfield as he was making his debut for the club and in the Israeli top-flight.

The 23-year-old put in a very decent display to help the newly promoted side to clinch victory in their league fixture of the season.

Sakyi joined Petah Tikva from Maltese side Senglea Athletic following an impressive campaign last season.

He was named in the Malta Premier League team of the 2019/2020 season.
