Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Boateng was red carded in Hapoel Tel Aviv's heavy defeat to Maccabi Tel Aviv on Saturay as the latter won the Israeli Ligat HaAl Championship.

The former Aduana Stars midfielder was shown the marching orders in the 88th minute after picking his second yellow of the game as they suffered a 3-0 defeat.

Boateng has been immense in the middle of the park for the Reds, however the host were too strong for Hapoel.

After a barren first half, Nick Blackman opened the scoring for the home side from the spot in the 68th minute before Eitan Tibi added the second with 9 minutes remaining.

Immediately after Boateng's red, the champions added a third through forward Itay Shechter.

The 22-year old will miss the game against rivals Hapoel Beer Sheeba on Tuesday.
