England snubs three players of Ghanaian descent in latest call-up, sparks Black Stars hopes

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Tariq Lamptey and Eddie Nketiah have all missed out on England manager Gareth Southgate's latest call-ups for the international break.

For Lamptey he asked to be excused from the U21 team for next month's international assignments, sparking rumours of Ghana switch.

Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah have also not hidden their intent of playing for Ghana, although they are yet to publicly announce their stance.

However, the latest England snub gives the Ghana Football Association the advantage of luring the trio to represent the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

All three players have shown great potential with Hudson-Odoi being a mainstay in Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea team while Nketiah almost singlehandedly gave Arsenal a top four finish.

He is yet to make a decision about his future with the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Lamptey's decision to stay away from the England U21 team provides the right signals for a nationality switch.

The Ghana Football Association is working around the clock to make sure all three players are ready before the 2022 World Cup.
