Girondins de Bordeaux defender Enock Kwateng has indicated his delight for the swift progress of AS Monaco midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni.

Tchouameni started his career at Bordeaux together with sought-after Sevilla centre-back Jules Koundé.

The enterprising midfielder failed to sustain his place in the team which saw him leave the club for AS Monaco.

He has become a key midfielder at the Stade Louis II, and Kwateng could not hide his excitement about the French U21 star’s maturity.

"I'm not surprised with his rise and his season in Monaco. It's well deserved. I'm happy for him,” the French-born Ghanaian right-back said.

“He loves to work, he always wants to go higher and knows where he wants to go. J 'had played against him when I was in Nantes. For his very young age, I had found him very mature in the game and very, very good. When I came to Bordeaux, I saw this character of leader. He's a young ... but he's not young.”

“He's not afraid to talk to old people. That's also why he manages to assert himself in Monaco. There are great players. like (Wissam) Ben Yedder and he's not going to shy away from telling him things. That's his strength, and we respect him.”
