Coach Ernest Thompson said he is really disappointed after he was sacked by Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold.

“I was really disappointed when I got the information to leave the job but life goes on. As a coach, you are hired and to be fired. So, it’s normal,” Thompson said.

He was sacked following AshantiGold's 2-0 defeat to King Faisal Babes in local derby on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Miners have won one, drawn one and lost one after three matches.

Quartey was appointed in September and has been in charge for only two months.

AshantiGold are set to re-appoint former assistant coach Thomas Duah to lead the club temporarily before a substantive head coach will be appointed.

The Miners will take on Hearts of Oak next Sunday at the Len Clay Stadium in a matchday four fixture.
