ES Sétif coach Nabil Kouji has lauded his players after their 2-1 win over Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup play-off.
The Algerian giants came from behind to dispatch the Ghanaian powerhouse at the Accra sports stadium.
A nicely worked goal by the Asante Kotoko team saw Kwame Poku break the deadlock for the Porcupine Warriors in the 69th minute of the second half
Amoura Mohammed got the equalizer for Setif in the 73rd minute with a beautiful header into the net
Setif got the important goal in the 81st minute from a counter-attack as Kendouci Mohammed made it 2-1 for the away side
The Porcupine Warriors were awarded a penalty after the ball was adjudged to have hit the hand of a Setif player.
Naby Keita’s spot kick was saved by the Setif goalkeeper.
“For starters, well done to the players for their efforts. They were focused on coming back with the win and they did it. However, this result does not mean we’re qualified yet, but it will help us in the return leg.” He told DZ Foot
The reverse fixture is fixed for February 25 at the May 8, 1945 stadium in Sétif.
