Essien disappointed over Rajevac departure

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has expressed his disappointment over the departure of Milovan Rajevac as coach of the Black Stars.

The Chelsea in-form midfielder says the Ghana Football Association is capable of appointing a competent coach to lead the country.

The Serbian quit the West Africans last month, refusing to renew his expired contract   after two years in the post.

Rajevac led the Black Stars to the final of the African Cup of Nations in January before guiding the team to the quarter final of the World Cup.

Rajevac joined Saudi side Al Ahly after a lucrative deal in the Arab country but Essien is disappointed the astute Serbian could not stay on.

“It’s very sad for me to hear that the coach has left but straight up these things happen,” the Chelsea midfielder Essien said.

“I will leave everything for the FA to appoint a new coach. They will look around and choose the right person for the team.”

Over fifty coaches have so far applied to replace Rajevac as coach of the Black Stars.
