Essien surprised himself with Chelsea goals

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien admits he has surprised himself with his goals for Chelsea this season.

In his blog for chelseafc.com, Essien wrote: "I scored two headers against West Ham recently and normally you will see my ‘superman’ celebrations but I was so surprised and impressed with my own headers that I spun away after the second one touching my forehead.

"That night and the next day I watched every programme where they were showing the goals and kept boasting to my family how I hang in the air like Michael Jordan in his ‘you too can fly’ days. I even started calling myself ‘headmaster’.

"Since then I haven’t scored again and now all the boasting is coming back to haunt me with my family laughing at me any time I miss a goal.

"I have had to remind them that it is a team game and it’s all about Chelsea winning and not just Michael Essien scoring goals."
