Essien warns Chelsea colleagues not to become complacent

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien accepts Chelsea, despite being top of the pile with a 100% record, still have it all to do.

The Blues embark on the quest to lift the European Cup at Wembley in May with a trip to Slovakian minnows MSK Zilina.

The Blues could be without both captain John Terry, because of a rib injury, and midfielder Frank Lampard, just back from a hernia operation, as well as the suspended Didier Drogba.

"We still have a lot to do," said Essien, who netted a brace in Saturday's 3-1 win at West Ham.

"The season is very long, but we have played some good football and are scoring a lot of goals - we have to keep going like that."

Essien admits he's enjoying his new attacking role with Chelsea.

Mikel John Obi's ability in the holding role and Michael Ballack's departure have allowed Essien to play further forward and he is revelling in the task.

"I really enjoy playing on the right side," he said.

"I think I attacked the ball really well and I managed to get two goals from it.

"It gives me more freedom to go forward and come back and defend and I really enjoy it.

"It has been a long wait for me and I had to do a lot of work to get fit but that is all over.

"There are no pains in the knees and I am really happy to be back and enjoying my football."
