Mourinho could be sacked by Madrid

Reports in Spain are gathering pace that Jose Mourniho, Michael Essien's 'father' will be sacked by Real Madrid in the coming days.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez seems to have had enough of Jose Mourniho's antics, and after he finished this season with no silverware to show for it, he is reported to be considering firing him, even before the end of the season.

Apparenty only three players - including Ghana star Essien - in the dressing room are still even talking to Mourinho, and Cristiano Ronaldo does not number amongst them.

Both El Mundo Deportivo, the paper which leans towards Barca andMarca, the Madrid-based sports daily, are reporting that his days are numbered, with Marca even stating that it could be a matter of hours before he's fired.

Mourinho has ruffled feathers in the dressing room, as well as the Spanish federation, in his attempts to intensify the hugely divisive rivalry between Madrid and Barcelona, and admitted himself that this season can be described as his worst failure.

However, in recent weeks, he has begun a game of brinksmanship with the Madrid board. They know he wants to go, and he knows they want him gone, but he has been deliberatey pushing buttons and stating that he might well still be in the Spanish capital next season.

This might force Perez's hand, and with the board meeting tomorrow, the papers expect he will be sacked, handing control to Alberto Toril, the manager of Real Madrid Castilla, the reserve team.

Mourinho was hugely instrumental in Essien joining the club on loan and his departure will certainly force the Ghanaian to return to Chelsea where he came from.
