Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the main obstacle in Real Madrid’s pursuit of Kai Havertz is Chelsea’s asking price.
With Karim Benzema and Mariano Diaz leaving the club, Real Madrid has shown interest in acquiring new strikers, including Havertz and Harry Kane.
However, the La Liga side’s board consider the Blues’ valuation of €75 million for the German striker to be higher than their intentions and expectations.
Romano mentions that Real Madrid appreciates Havertz but will need to thoroughly discuss his situation in the coming days as more clubs may approach Chelsea.
It is worth noting that Chelsea had to pay Bayer Leverkusen €75.8 million in 2020 to secure Havertz’s transfer to Stamford Bridge, a similar amount that Real Madrid is currently facing in their pursuit of the player.
