Four Ghanaian players will play in this season's Uefa Europa League Group stage after their sides advanced on Thursday night.

Centre-backs John Boye and Lee Addy made the headlines as they faced each other at the Stade Route de Lorient.

Addy went through a tormenting evening with Red Star Belgrade as they suffered a disgraceful 4-0 defeat at the hands of Stade Rennes.

Midfielder Awal Issah-Mohammed was booked in the 75th minute as Rosenborg exited the competition after a 2-1 defeat at Cypriot side AEK Larnaca.

He lasted the full 90 minutes.

Former Tema Youth midfielder Richard Annang helped Romanian side Vaslui to progress to the next round despite losing 1-0 at Sparta Praha.

Panathinaikos' 2-1 victory over Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv was not enough to see them through after a 3-0 first leg defeat.

Ghana winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie played the entire regulation time for Panathinaikos.

Versatile defender Daniel Opare was in full flight for Standard Liege which secured a convincing 3-1 win over Helsingborg.

Black Stars pair Derek Boateng and Samuel Inkoom played 90 minutes as Dnipro narrowly edged English side Fulham 1-0.

But the Ukrainian outfit were however unable to sail through after losing the first leg 3-0 at the Craven Cottage.

Young striker Akwasi Asante played the last two minutes for Birmingham City which hammered Portuguese side Nacional 3-0.
