Ghana youth defender Baba Mensah received a straight red card in BK Hacken’s 1-1 draw with Cork City on Thursday in the Europa League second qualifying round first leg tie at home.

Having been turned and with an opponent clear in on goal, Mensah tackled City winger Sean Maguire and the referee immediately pointed to the spot and pulled a red card from his pocket.

Maguire then dusted himself to send goalkeeper Abrahamsson the wrong way to give the Irish side a vital lead with 64 minutes played.

But with seven minutes from time, Hacken were awarded a free-kick and Paulinho's in-swinging effort was tipped away from the goal line by McNulty but John Owoeri was on hand to volley home the equaliser.

This means Mensah, on loan from Inter Allies, will miss the return leg next week.

Compatriot Nasiru Mohammed started for BK Hacken but was replaced after 66 minutes with Mohammed Abubakar an unused substitute,
