EUROPA LEAGUE / Valencia sentence the tie: Valencia 6-0 Rapid de Viena

Published on: 19 February 2016

Gary Neville's Valencia provided further confirmation of their recent revival after producing a devastating performance which saw Rapid Vienna easily brushed aside in the Europa League.

The Austrian outfit were breached on six occasions as Santi Mina, who chalked up a brace and three assists, ran riot. The hosts put the game to bed very early on, with barely 35 minutes on the clock. Neville's charges had raced into a 5-0 lead by this point - a new Europa League record - as the Mestalla faithful were provided with a timely reminder of just what their side is capable of.

Barring a miracle in the return leg, this result will see 'Los Che' take their place in the draw for the last 16. This rout serves as a boost for a Valencia side who are in need of all of the encouragement they can get ahead of their return to La Liga action this weekend, where they will be desperate to build on their victory over Espanyol from last time out.

Mina (2), Dani Parejo, Álvaro Negredo, André Gomes and Rodrigo all got their names on the scoresheet on a magical night of European football at the Mestalla.
