Even dead people believed I will be part of the Ghana squad for 2006 WC – Joetex Frimpong speaks on snub

Former Ghana international, Joetex Asamoah-Frimpong has opened up on his 2006 World Cup snub.

According to him, he is still hurt that he was left out of the Black Stars squad for the maiden appearance at the global showpiece.

Speaking to e-TV Ghana Sports, Joetex Asamoah-Frimpong argued that after his consistency in the World Cup qualifiers, even dead people believed he should be part of the Ghana squad.

“Even people that were dead believed I’d go to the World Cup. I was consistent throughout the qualifiers. I was disappointed and couldn’t believe it, and up till now, I’m still disappointed,” Joetex Asamoah-Frimpong said.

In the interview, Joetex Asamoah-Frimpong disclosed that when he was snubbed, he wanted to stop playing for the Black Stars but it was because of advise from his father that changed his mind.

He played a key role for the Black Stars between 2005 and 2009.

Frimpong debuted for Black Stars in a World Cup qualifier for the 2006 tournament in a game against Burkina Faso.
