Fulham have opened talks to sign Evian's Mohammed Rabiu but the Cottagers face competition from Portuguese heavyweights Benfica.

The midfielder is expected to leave the French side this summer and has been linked with Ligue 1 clubs Marseille, Lyon and Lille but it would seem as if Fulham and Benfica are the front-runners in the race for his signature.

Evian coach Pascal Dupraz has confirmed the club have begun negotiations regarding the 23-year-old Ghana international with both Fulham and Benfica, and expects Rabiu to make a decision in the coming days.

"With regard to Rabiu, negotiations have already begun with Benfica and Fulham," the coach said in a press conference.
