Former Asante Kotoko striker Saddick Adams believes his strong personality is the reason he's been constantly overlooked for a call-up into the Black Stars.

Adams was touted as the next big thing to have emerged from the West African country following his exploits with the Ghana U17 at the 2007 FIFA U17 World Cup in South Korea.

He represented the nation at U20 and U23 levels but is yet to win a cap for the senior national team despite enjoying a fruitful season with Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko some years ago.

The 30-year-old was one of the hottest strikers in the local league during the 2017 campaign, netting a famous hat-trick for the Porcupine Warriors in a 3-1 victory against sworn adversaries Hearts of Oak in the FA Cup final.

Recently, Ghana coach Charles Akonnor in his maiden Black Stars call-up handed invites to four players from the Ghana Premier League including striker Yahaya Mohammed, defenders Habib Mohammed and Kwadwo Amoako, as well as goalkeeper Richard Attah.

Adams however thinks he performed much better during his stint with Berekum Chelsea and Kotoko than the form exhibited by the current local players called up into the team but he was overlooked due to negative perception people have about him.

"I always do things for my self neither do I influence teammates when it comes to financial issues. I always fight for my right," Adams said on Space FM.

"I always say that I have been painted black out there and need to explain myself to anyone to have chance in Black Stars."

"I have performed better than some players at my days at Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko but I wasn’t given the opportunity to play for the Black Stars.

"I always stand for the truth not that am disrespectful and recalcitrant,” he deduced.

Adams has revealed that he will be relaunching his career with Berekum Chelsea in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.

He is currently a free-agent after a short stint with Lebanese top-flight side Shabab Bourj.
