Former Benin FA president Moucharafou Anjorin has been thrown into prison and several secretariat officials have been suspended after the country’s team were disqualified from the U17 AFCON qualifiers in Niamey after 10 players failed an MRI age test.

Anjorin was arrested by the military police of Agblangandan and later confined to prison in Cotonou, according to media reports monitored by SCORENigeria.

Newly elected Benin FA boss Mathurin de Chacus has also suspended several secretariat staffers involved with the age scandal that has rocked the country.

The new Benin boss has only returned from FIFA head office in Zurich, Switzerland, where he paid a courtesy call on FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
