Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has confirmed his readiness to accept an invitation to join the Black Stars technical team for next year’s FIFA World Cup finals.

Current head coach Kwesi Appiah hinted he was prepared to name the ex-Juventus star in his backroom for the Brazil tournament.

Appiah, who captained Ghana at the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany, says he will not turn down that offer if it is put forward to him.

“When I read the story on the Internet, I was really happy, and that shows that during my days when I was doing my job, I took it seriously,” the 33-year-old is quoted by Graphic Online.

“And for someone to be recommending me at this stage, I think it’s a big thing for me.’’

Appiah played a bit-part role for Ghana in their quarter-finalist feat chalked at the last World Cup hosted by South Africa in 2010.

He quit international football after the tournament citing personal reasons.

Appiah has been without a club since leaving Serbian side Vojvodina in the summer of 2012.
