Former Ghana FA boss Nyaho Tamakloe says Ghanaians should not go about 'clapping their hands' over the return of midfielder Michael Essien.

The Chelsea ace has not played for the national team since a 45 minute appearance at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola after suffering from two career threatening injuries.

Essien announced his return on Monday and that has been greeted with mixed reactions.

Tamakloe is not enthused about his return to the national team.

He told Citi FM: "Personally I'm not enthused about his return. We all know the sort of football he plays for Chelsea and the kind of commitment he put in when he plays. He chooses to play for Ghana whenever he likes.

"I'm going to go around clapping my hands because he has announced to come back to the team. Nobody is indispensable and I strongly believe there equally young and upcoming midfielders who can take his place."

Essien has admitted he must fight to regain his starting place in Africa number one ranked team.
