Ex-international CK Akonnor has been appointed as a consultant analyst for the 2010 World Cup finals by the African Union of Broadcasters.

He received the appointment from ABU at a ceremony in Senegal some weeks ago.

The 35-year-old said: "If ABU has recognized my contribution to the development of the sport, having played at the highest level for club and country, I will readily put my experience at the disposal of the entire continent during the mundial."

Akonnor captained Ghana from 2000-2004 but never played at the World Cup finals but will have his chance now not as a player.

He coached Ghana Premier League side Eleven Wise but was relieved off his post before the turn of the year.
