Ex-Ghana coach backs Kingson as first choice goalie

Ex-Ghana coach Emmanuel Afranie says he will stick to under-fire Richard Kingson as first choice goalkeeper at the World Cup finals but says his substitutes should be tried in the Latvia friendly.

Afranie fears the untested duo might struggle to fill the vacuum in case of any misfortune to the Wigan goalkeeper.

"My worry is maybe with the goalkeeper. There should be another person in the post for the next match so that in the event of a problem with Kingson that goalkeeper will not be afraid," Afranie told Joy FM.

Somebody was put in place for the first time and he was scared and he was shaking and nervous. So he should try one of the two substitute goalkeepers so they gather the needed confidence.

"I think he (Richard Kingson) has got a problem already so the doctors should work on him but he remains my number keeper anyway."

Afranie handled the Ghana national team temporarily  in 1984 and 2002.
