Former Ghana youth midfielder Clifford Aboagye says he holds no regret about leaving Europe to play in South America.

Aboagye shocked the football world when he swapped Spanish side Granada for Mexican Liga MX side Atlas FC on a six-month loan in 2017.

The 25-year-old netted two goals in 63 appearances for the side before moving on loan again to fellow Liga MX side Gallos de Querétaro at the start of 2019 campaign.

The Teshie native says he is happy with the decision to swap Europe for Mexico, describing the move as rather grateful.

"Ghanaians are expecting me to be playing in one of the big Leagues in Europe and so far as I have the talent, I believe with hard work I can break through. I am rather grateful and not regretful," Aboagye told TV3's Sports Journalist Juliet Barwuah in an interview on Instagram Live.

"People are thinking I should be at par with my colleagues I played the World Cup without when I back I feel I should be grateful."

He believes there are more years in his football career to consider a move to play in Europe again.

"I feel it is a gradual process and I have a lot of years ahead of of me to continue my career," Aboagye stressed.

The former Inter Allies was among the best players who were tipped to make headlines in world football after the 2013 FIFA U120 World Cup staged in Turkey.

He was named for the Bronze Ball of the tournament after his country, Ghana finished third.
