Former Ghanaian defender Philip Boampong has voiced concerns over the attitudes of some Ghanaians, stating that it could hinder their chances of making it to Heaven.

Speaking in an interview with Global Sports Studios, Boampong pointed to the greed and lack of integrity he perceives in society, particularly among journalists and influential figures, who often demand financial compensation for assistance.

Boampong, who once played for Hearts of Oak, expressed his frustration with the prevalent culture of materialism in Ghana, emphasising that this behaviour contradicts Christian values. "Ghanaians hate the truth, so I doubt anyone will go to Heaven. There is no integrity; nobody does something for free," he lamented.

The former defender also compared the living standards in Ghana to those in foreign countries, pointing out the vast disparity. "One American state is bigger than Ghana, so why are we suffering?" he questioned.

Boampong’s comments also touched on the lack of proper recognition and compensation for Ghana's 2009 U-20 World Cup-winning players. He previously called for the full payment of benefits from the GH¢10,000 per player investment made on their behalf.
