Former Asante Kotoko captain Danlad Ibrahim has expressed his belief in the competitiveness of the Ghana Premier League.
Over the years, some Ghanaians have shifted their interest towards foreign football, often citing a lack of competition in the domestic league. However, the former Ghana youth international strongly disagrees with this notion.
In a recent interview, Ibrahim shared his thoughts on the state of the Ghanaian top-flight league.
“The Ghana Premier League remains competitive. I can say there is no small club in the league now. The leadership of the various clubs are doing very well. Previously, some clubs were struggling to even get their own bus but the narrative has changed now,” he stated.
He emphasized the improvements within the league, noting the increased support and development efforts by club leadership.
“We have the talent as a country and the coaches are also giving the upcoming players the chance to prove themselves. Things have changed and I believe our league is still competitive,” Ibrahim added.
Danlad Ibrahim is currently a free agent after ending his eight-year tenure with Asante Kotoko at the end of the season. He is expected to find a new club before the commencement of the 2024/25 football campaign.
