Ex-Manchester United wonderkid who scored on debut for Jose Mourinho side left without a club

Former Manchester United midfielder Josh Harrop is on the search for a new club after his contract with Preston was terminated by mutual consent.

Harrop made just a solitary senior appearance for United, back on the final day of the 2016/17 season. He started and scored in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho handed Harrop and a number of other youngsters their first-team bow in what was a dead rubber. And Harrop was the star of the show after a fine performance and maiden strike.

Speaking afterwards about his dream debut, Harrop said: "I've dreamt it so many times and for it to actually come true today... I'm delighted, I am over the moon, speechless. I have to thank Mourinho for giving me the opportunity to play."

But that would prove to be his one and only outing for the club. In what was a surprise to many, he rejected a contract offer from United that summer and took up a deal at Preston.

But his five-year stay was far from successful. He struggled with injuries, featuring 95 times in total. He was loaned out twice, to Ipswich and then Fleetwood. Now, the 26-year-old is searching for a new club after it was mutually agreed to end his Deepdale stay earlier this month. He had failed to appear in a matchday squad this season for Ryan Lowe's side.
