Ex-Star tasks Sulley Muntari to step-in for Essien at World Cup

Ex-Ghana international Yaw Preko has challenged Champions League winner Sulley Muntari to play the poster boy role at the World Cup in the absence of Michael Essien.

Muntari who played a bit part role in Inter Milan's historic treble winning feat has been tasked to make-up for the loss of the Chelsea ace.

"I think Sulley should be in charge, only that he has to control his temper. We should rely a lot on Sulley. I don't know about Appiah but if he is fit I believe he can be back on the same level he was some years back. I believe we can count on Sulley. We should just back him up and he can be the midfield maestro," Preko told Citifm.

Muntari was excluded from Ghana's squad for the Africa Cup of Nations on disciplinary grounds but has since patched up with the coach.
