Ex-Ghana internationals have joined calls for the appointment of an indigenous Ghanaian coach for the vacant Black Stars coaching job.

Ex-Bayern Munich defender Sammy Kuffour believes local coaches in recent times have garnered the requisite credentials to lead the 2010 Fifa World Cup quarter-finalists.

"If you ask me a black guy who has the personality to be the national coach maybe I will mention Marcel Desailly because he's undergoing some coaching course but in my view I will pick CK Akunnor and Mohammed Gargo," the 34-year-old told Joy FM.

Former Ghana Premier League goal-king Augustine Ahinful has insisted his preference for a Ghanaian and has diffused the perception that the Black Stars players will not back the local man should he be appointed.

"The treated meted out to is unfair. Dujkovic did the same thing in 2006 and Milovan knew he was going but decided to stay and probably take his salary for the mont of August. Herbert Addo can take charge of the team, David Duncan can do. I don't see Sulley Muntari disrecting them," the former Ankaragucu striker added.

The Ghana job became vacant after Serb Milovan Rajevac turned down a new four-year deal to sign for Saudi champions Ahly Jeddah in a lucrative one-year contract.
