Exciting times for Liverpool if Coutinho and Sturridge can string games together – Fowler

Robbie Fowler believes that Liverpool will start finding the back of the net consistently if the duo of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho are able to get a consistent run of games under their belt.

Coutinho and Sturridge have missed a major chunk of Liverpool's campaign so far this season due to a number of injuries but the pair started during the Reds' encounter against Manchester City in the final of the Capital One Cup on Sunday night.

While Coutinho and Sturridge were unable to prevent Liverpool from suffering a defeat on penalties, Kop legend Fowler believes there that are exciting times ahead for the Reds if the two stars can work together under the guidance of the impressive Jurgen Klopp.

Fowler wrote for The New Day newspaper: "Goals are a problem, but exciting times are ahead with the often magical Philippe Coutinho and injury-ravaged Daniel Sturridge stringing some games together.

"This isn't Klopp's team as such but he's brought his style and a winning attitude that is infectious. Even getting to Wembley was an achievement in itself.

"I genuinely believe the German is building something special. He's a proven winner, and impresses me in every department. You hang on his every word. His record screams success. He is the right man for the job."
