The Aston Villa youth team coach has been identified as a replacement for Milovan Rajevac with talks to be opened with the hardworking manager in the coming hours, Ghana's leading football news outfit can reveal.

Ghanasoccernet.com can reveal that high ranking officials from government are pushing for the ex-Netgerlands player.

Other names that have also sprung up are Otto Addo, Ibrahim Tanko and Chris Haughton.

Ghana endured a disastrous Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon, after getting eliminated from the group stage.

For the first time in the country's history, the Black Stars failed to win a game at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Meanwhile, the team will be hoping to bounce back with the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers play-offs slated for March this year.

Ghana will find out their opponent in the draw to be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Douala.

Four-time champions Ghana were eliminated in the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-2 loss to tournament debutants Comoros, in a shocker that outweighed a string of surprises in Cameroon.

Ghana fell behind in the fourth minute, had captain Andre Ayew sent off in the 25th and were 2-0 down in the 61st.

The Ghanaians levelled with two goals in 13 minutes late in the game, only to concede again when Ahmed Mogni swept in his second goal in the 85th minute to give Comoros the greatest victory in their history.

Ghana -- who were last crowned champions in 1982 -- had made at least the semi-finals in six of the past seven African Cups and were last dumped out in the group stage in 2006.

They finished bottom of Group C with just one point.
