Ghana’s quest to excel at the 2014 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup are being threatened by a severe injury crisis that could deprive the country of up to seven key players for the tournament, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
Coach Evans Augustine Adotey is sweating over the fitness of his key players, just four days before he names his final squad for the tournament in Costa Rica.
GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm that goalkeeper Rita Gyasi, Priscilla Adubea, Laadi Issaka, Jemima Dussey and Olivia Anokye are all injured.
There are also serious doubts over the fitness of Belinda Anane and Vida Opoku who are key members of the Ghana squad.
Coach Adotey must now risk either taken them along or leave them behind with the World Cup fast approaching.
Ghana has up to February 25 to submit the final 21 players to the word governing body, FIFA.
The Black Maidens are Africa’s major hope after they won bronze in the last tournament in Azerbaijan in 2012.
