AIK Stockholm new signing Ebenezer Ofori will miss their season opener on Sunday against Karlstad due to work permit issues, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 24-year-old rejoined the Swedish side on a three year deal this month but the club were unsuccessful in getting his documents processed at the Migration Board.

A Swedish work permit can take a few weeks to obtain and can last for two years and must then be renewed.

''We simply haven't got it yet. We are waiting for the Swedish Migration Board's decision,'' AIK sports director Björn Wesström told FotbollDirekt on Monday.

''The application has been submitted and we hope as soon as possible positive message so that he can join our club.

''It is clear that Ofori has a strong history in AIK. He will make a difference in the short term, but also in the long term. That's how we see it. It is a combination of his age and history that gives us a strong hope for something good.''
