FC Metz assistant general manager Philippe Gaillot has revealed that his outfit pulled out from a move to sign Ghana striker Majeed Waris.
Waris has not played competitive football since he was declared surplus to requirement at Portuguese giants FC Porto.
However, report reaching GHANAsoccernet.com indicate that FC Metz made an enquiry about relieving the 28-year-old forward from his misery at Porto but pulled out of the deal at the final moment.
It was duly confirmed by FC Metz chief Gaillot, but did not give any vivid reason.
"We followed him a lot, but the situation was a bit complicated, it's a case that we stopped," says assistant general manager Philippe Gaillot.
He is under contract at Porto until 2022.
