EXCLUSIVE: Ghana could lose young midfielder Isaac Nuhu to Qatar

Published on: 09 November 2021

Ghana could lose budding talent Isaac Nuhu to Qatar as the Asian country have shown great interest in luring the midfielder to commit his international future to them.

This comes after former WAFA defender Kennedy Boateng switched nationality to play for Togo.

Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively report that the KAS Eupen man is being monitored by Qatar as they want Nuhu to become their player before the 2022 World Cup.

Nuhu has been in great form in Belgium this season. He has scored one goal in 13 appearances but has bagged a couple of man of the match awards.

Qatar, impressed by his output, are desperate to meet Nuhu and offer him a lucrative deal that could convince him to pledge his international allegiance to them.

The advantage for Qatar is that Nuhu hasn’t been capped by Ghana although the midfielder is optimistic, he would soon get the chance to don the Black Stars jersey.

Nuhu’s link with Qatar is because he stayed in the country for years with the Aspire Academy where he was poached by Eupen.

Qatar are backed by one of FIFA’s eligibility rule that states that players, who started living in a country they were not born, nor have parents or grandparents from there, before the age of 10 can be eligible after living there for three years.

Nuhu lived in Qatar for more than three years before KAS Eupen signed him in January 2020.

In almost two years in Belgium and Nuhu has established himself as one of the best central midfielders, attracting interest from top clubs in Europe.

French giants Marseille and Monaco are among the clubs reportedly interested in having Nuhu in their ranks.

He has a contract with Eupen until June 2025.
