Ghana defender Joseph Aidoo has tested positive for the coronavirus after the second round of testing done by the club, GHANAsoccernet.com can report.

The Celta Vigo defender contracted the coronavirus after returning to the Spanish side from international duty with the Black Stars.

The 25-year old featured in Ghana's two international friendlies against Mali and Qatar.

He has been in self-isolation since October 16 and after 14 days in quarantine.

After another round of testing done by the club to check his recover, the defender has tested positive ruling him out of the Celta Vigo's La Liga clash against Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Aidoo was one of the six Ghana players that returned to their clubs with the virus after playing against Mali and Qatar in an international friendly early this month.

The Ghana international is likely to be ruled out of the Black Stars doubleheader against Sudan next month as Ghana coach Akonnor is expected to name his squad on Friday 30 October.

The former Genk defender will still be in isolation for some couple of days for treatment.

Meanwhile, some players of the Black Stars have recovered from the coronavirus and are expected to be named in Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier squad against Sudan.
