EXCLUSIVE: Ghana defender Sumaila named in Red Star squad for UEFA Champions League
Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila

Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila has been included in Red Star Belgrade's 28-man list for the upcoming UEFA Champions League qualification matches, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Sumaila, who joined the side just last week, was among the players submitted to UEFA by the Serbian giants as part of their squad for Europe's top-flight competition.

The Serbian champions fulfilled one of their administrative obligations to UEFA on Sunday by sending a list of 28 players for the start of the qualifiers.

The submission of the list shows that Sumaila is in the key plans of the club ahead of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League clash with Sparta Jurmala of Latvia on Wednesday.

Even though Sumaila was unable to travel with Red Star to Austria for their pre-season training, his inclusion in the squad indicates he will play a key role for the club this season.

The second leg of the match is scheduled for Tuesday, 17th July 2018 with Sumaila wearing the No 37 jersey for the Serbian giants.
