Ghana striker Kwabena Owusu has opened talks to join Azebaijan top-flight side Qarabag in a massive transfer deal, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Agents of the talented attacker are in advanced talks with the ambitious club over the move which could be sealed before next week.

The 22-year-old, who is on loan to Spanish second tier side Cordoba from Leganes, has already agreed terms with the Qarabag.

Leganes must now agree to the terms the Azerbaijan champions before the player can undergo the medical before the deal is sealed.

But another hurdle of Cordoba finding a replacement striker for the Ghanaian player must be sorrted before the deal is consummated.

Owusu has already left the Spanish city of Cordoba and arrived in Madrid awaiting the clearance before he can fly out for medicals in Turkey where Qarabag are training.

His departure from Cordoba without the permission of the club has sparked concerns from the second tier side that he has gone AWOL. The striker is thought to be the news Ghana hotshot after his impressive showing at the recent African Cup of Nations in Egypt in June last year.

He is thought of as the natural replacement for Asamoah Gyan but the huge financial offer from Qarabag is something he cannot turn down.

The coming hours will determine whether the deal will be sealed for Owusu who was born in Accra.
