Patrick Twumasi is set to move to Spain

Ghana winger Patrick Twumasi is on the verge of joining Spanish side Deportivo Alaves, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 24-year-old, who plays for Kazakhstan side FC Astana, is expected to arrive in Spain in the coming hours to begin the formalities to complete the switch.

Sources close to the deal have told Ghana's leading football news website, Ghanasoccernet.com, that Twumasi will be handed a long-term contract.

Negotiations between the two clubs are very advanced and the deal could be announced in the next few hours.

He will join his compatriot Mubarak Wakaso at the club that has been relegated into the second tier and have the key aim of returning to the top-flight immediately.

In the absence of any stumbling block the Ghana international will be a new player for the Basque side who will play in the second tier for next season.

But the speedy and tricky player must undergo the medical tests before he is handed the contract and chance to impress in mainstream Europe.

The Ghanaian player is a key gamble for present and future of Alaves and for that reason the Basque team will give him a long-term contract.

The attacker played a total of 29 games last season, in which he scored 18 goals and contributed 3 assists.

He will become the fourth signing of the club after Borja Bastón, Jony and Ximo Navarro.

Twumasi will not be the last signing, since Alaves are working on the signing of a left-back, a midfielder and a striker.
