Ghanaian defender Michael Akoto has extended his contract with German side Mainz O5, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively report.
The 22-year old has been outstanding for the second team of the club in the Regionalliga Sudwest, earning him a contract extension.
Akoto joined the 05ers from SV Wehen Wiesbaden in 2018 on a two year deal, but following the expiration of his current deal, the club handed him a new contract.
"He made another big development step last season, both on and off the field. We hope that he will continue this development in the coming season," says Volker Kersting, whois youth development coach at Mainz.
The budding guardsman made 20 appearances for the club in the lower tier competition last season.
